How to Install Android KitKat 4.4 on Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (via CM 11 Custom ROM)

To get Android KitKat 4.4 on your S3 Mini, you’re going to go through the usual procedure for installing custom ROMs on your device – download the two zip files we give you (ROM and Gapps), move them into your device’s root storage, and then flash them from your custom recovery mode.Don’t worry if you’re a newbie, you’ll get KitKat 4.4 on your S3 Mini by the end of the guide, provided you follow the steps as carefully as you can. Preparatory Steps
- Ensure that you have the original USB cable that came with your Galaxy S3 Mini
- Charge your S3 Mini to at least 85% so it doesn’t turn off during the ROM installation
- Enable USB debugging on your S3 Mini by going to Settings > Developer Options > USB debugging
- Make sure you have all the USB drivers installed on your computer to support your Galaxy S3 Mini
- After you’ve completed all the prepatory steps, make the following downloads

- Download Android KitKat 4.4 CM 11 ROM zip file to your desktop (do not unzip this either
Steps to Install KitKat 4.4 Based CM 11 ROM on Galaxy S3 Mini
(CWM Recovery method)
Step 1 - After you’ve downloaded the above listed zip files, connect your computer to your Galaxy S3 Mini and move both the zip files to your phone’s root storage (in plain sight, not in any folder)
Step 2 - You may now disconnect your Galaxy S3 Mini and boot it into recovery mode by first turning it off and then on again by pressing Volume Down + Home button + Power button and then selecting the recovery option from the next screen.
Step 3 - Now that you’re in CWM recovery, select Data Wipeout / Factory reset option and wipe the data. Next, select the Wipe Cache and then Dalvik cache from the Advanced Option
Step 4 - Now go back to the recovery menu and select the Install Zip from SD Card option. Now choose the CM 11 beta build zip file and install it. After that completes, do the same for the GApps zip file and install it.
Step 5 - After that’s done, select the +++Go Back++++ option and click on Reboot system now
Steps to Install Android 4.4 KitKat Based CM 11 ROM on Galaxy S3 Mini (TWRP Recovery method)
Step 1 - After you’ve downloaded the above listed zip files, connect your computer to your Galaxy S3 Mini and move both the zip files to your phone’s root storage (in plain sight, not in any folder)
Step 2 - You may now disconnect your Galaxy S3 Mini and boot it into recovery mode by first turning it off and then on again by pressing Volume Down + Home button + Power button and then selecting the recovery option from the next screen.
Step 3 - Now that you’re in CWM recovery, select Data Wipeout option and wipe the data. Next, select the Wipe Cache and then Dalvik cache from the Advanced Option
Step 4 - Now go back to the recovery menu and select the Install option. Now choose the KitKat 4.4 CM 11 ROM zip file and install it. After that completes, do the same for the GApps zip file and install it.
Step 5 - After that’s done, go back to the recovery menu and click on Reboot
after you have clicked the reboot option from your recovery, you’re just seconds away from tasting Android KitKat 4.4 on your S3 Mini – the boot might take a while since it’ the first time. But considering the fact your running Android 4.4 KitKat on a mid-level phone like S3 Mini – Thank God for CM.
