To install Gingerbread 2.3.6 XXLK3 firmware on Galaxy Y, we will be using Odin utility – which is the best program we recommend for applying official updates like this one. Why? Because you don’t need to have your Galaxy Y rooted or factory unlocked or anything. Don’t worry, this will still work if you have your Galaxy Y rooted or unlocked, but since this is an official firmware update for Galaxy Y – you’re device will be un-rooted and get factory locked again. Back to the way it was when it first came in. Before we begin with the guide for updating Galaxy Y S5360 to Gingerbread 2.3.6 XXLK3 firmware, It is recommended that you back up all your data such as – Contacts, Call logs, APN settings, SMSs, Images/songs and other files as their is a risk of your data getting wiped out during the update.
